Yamaha Motor Recalls

Hazard: The brake caliper on the left front wheel could have been made incorrectly, resulting in brake fluid leaking. This can cause a loss of braking and control of the vehicle, posing a serious safety risk to the driver and passenger.

Hazard: The protective boots covering the steering system's tie-rod ends (universal joints) on the recalled ATVs could be pinched during installation or adjustment, cutting a hole in the rubber. If this occurs, grease could escape, and contaminants, such as sand or mud, could get into the assembly through the hole, causing accelerated wear. This could result in abnormal steering free play. If the ATV continues to be operated without repair, the ball and socket portion of the tie-rod end could wear to the point that they separate, resulting in loss of steering control, which could cause a vehicle crash with injury or death.

Hazard: The rear brake shoe material could separate due to improper adhesive curing, adversely affecting rear braking performance.

Hazard: Vibration from the engine and driveline during long periods of high rpm usage could cause the rear master cylinder reservoir to agitate, resulting in brake fluid aeration. A small amount of air bubbles could enter the master cylinder, adversely affecting rear brake performance.

Hazard: A mounting-bracket weld on the rear hub can come loose, resulting in rear brake failure and possible injury to operators.

Hazard: The throttle on these motorcycles can stick, causing a rider to lose control of the vehicle and crash, resulting in injuries and death.
