Where do these recalls come from?

Every recall on RecallWatchUSA is an official notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). We do not write our own safety assessments — we republish the CPSC's notice and organize it so you can search by brand, category and year.

Why don't I see car or medication recalls here?

Those are handled by different federal agencies — vehicles and car seats by NHTSA, food, drugs and medical devices by the FDA. RecallWatchUSA covers only products under CPSC jurisdiction: toys, children's products, appliances, electronics, furniture, tools and sporting goods.

How up to date is the list?

The recall list is refreshed from the CPSC on a regular schedule, so a new recall usually appears here within a day of being announced. Each recall page shows the official recall date and recall number.

I own a recalled product. What should I do?

Stop using it and follow the remedy in the official notice — most recalls offer a refund, free replacement or free repair. The recall's page on cpsc.gov, linked from every recall here, is the authoritative source for how to claim it.

Is RecallWatchUSA affiliated with the CPSC?

No. It is an independent reference site. All recall information is public U.S. government data; the site is not endorsed by or affiliated with the CPSC or any agency.
