Hazard
The slats on the cribs can loosen and detach from the drop side rail, creating a large opening between the slats, where a child's head or neck could become entrapped, resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy
Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled cribs until the repair has been performed. Vermont Precision Woodworks is providing consumers with replacement drop side rails.

Vermont Precision Woodworks has received 21 reports of slats detaching. No injuries have been reported.

Description

The recalled cribs include models, 7010 Alpine, 7020 Caspian, 7030 Coventry, 7040 Dunmore and 7070 Haystack. The full-size cribs are solid maple and are available in five finishes, natural, colonial, white, cherry, and cinnamon. A label on the bottom of the cribs reads, "Vermont Precision Woodworks." The manufacturing date and model name is also printed on the label. The cribs were made in the USA. The ASTM voluntary standard for full-size baby cribs includes tests for structural integrity of crib components. CPSC staff found that the recalled side rails failed the ASTM voluntary standard test. Vermont Woodworks revised the assembly procedure for the replacement rails to comply with the ASTM standard.

Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled cribs until the repair has been performed. Vermont Precision Woodworks is providing consumers with replacement drop side rails.
