Product Recalls in 2005

Hazard: Hydrogen gas can build up in the battery compartment and cause the battery cover and the battery package to forcefully expel from the product, posing a risk of injury to the user or bystanders.

Hazard: The seams of the inflatable arm bands can tear, causing them to deflate. This poses a drowning hazard to young children.

Hazard: The fork that holds the front wheel can separate at the weld, causing the rider to fall and suffer injuries.

Hazard: The lens in the sunglasses can separate from frames, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Hazard: The paint on the red sunglasses contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Hazard: The product's odor is not chemically pungent enough to force consumers to minimize their exposure to the fumes. Consumers overexposed to these fumes can experience respiratory-related illness.

Hazard: Some of these helmets do not meet CPSC safety standards for bicycle helmets, which poses a risk of riders suffering head injuries.

Hazard: The orange paint on the floor mat maps contains excess levels of lead. Lead poisoning is a serious hazard to children and is associated with behavioral problems, learning disabilities, hearing problems and growth retardation.

Hazard: A hose connecting the natural gas source to the grill's main manifold may not have been supplied with these grills. Without this hose, the gas would be emitted into the air, creating a potential fire hazard. Consumers should not use the grill until the main burner hose is provided.

Hazard: The stitching that attaches the webbing to the carrier/sling can break, posing a fall hazard to young children.

Hazard: The surface coating of some flame guards on these bamboo torches and replacement canisters can absorb the fuel and ignite. This can cause the torch and nearby combustibles to catch on fire, posing a risk of burn injuries and property damage.

Hazard: The toy box's lid support can fail, allowing the lid to collapse suddenly. This poses a strangulation hazard to young children, and possible impact injuries to a child's head, neck, fingers or hands.

Hazard: When the decking or railing material is exposed to hot temperatures and sunlight, it can prematurely degrade. The degraded material could break, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

Hazard: The carafe handle can unexpectedly loosen or break, resulting in the carafe falling. This can cause burn injuries from hot coffee or lacerations from broken glass.

Hazard: The amount of glue used to bond and hold the joints together on these stools could be insufficient. These stools could break and collapse during use, causing consumers to fall.

Hazard: The band on the watch contains liquid petroleum distillates. If punctured, the watch band could leak. Petroleum distillates could be harmful if ingested and cause irritation to the skin or eyes on contact.

Hazard: The tire can separate from the wheel, resulting in a flat tire. This can cause the rider to lose control and fall.

Hazard: The battery packs on these drill/drivers can overheat, expand and possibly rupture, creating an explosion or thermal burn hazard.

Hazard: A plastic flower attached to the sandals can pull or snap off, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Hazard: The hub in the bicycle's rear wheel can fail to engage properly, causing no resistance when pedaling. The bicycle rider can lose balance, fall and suffer injuries.

Hazard: The power cord on the units can fray or sever, causing the fan to stop working and overheat. This could pose a fire hazard to consumers.

Hazard: The stroller handle can disconnect from the stroller frame during use.

Hazard: The hub in the bicycle's rear wheel can fail to engage properly, causing no resistance when pedaling. The bicycle rider could lose balance, fall and suffer injuries.

Hazard: If assembly instructions are not properly followed, the gas spring/shock can be damaged during assembly, if the walking platform is folded up and goes beyond the vertical position. This action can cause the shock to contact the treadmill roller and be damaged, and could propel shock parts out. The parts of the shock could hit a bystander, causing injury.

Hazard: The front and/or rear wheel can collapse, causing the rider to fall and suffer injuries.

Hazard: The rear axle on the bicycle is harder than required by the manufacturer's specification and could crack.

Hazard: The burner tube connection to the gas valve can leak gas when the main burner is on. This leaking gas can ignite, causing a minor flare-up, which could cause nearby combustibles to ignite.

Hazard: A significant impact to the front wheel of the ATV while the steering is fully turned to either side can result in suspension damage, wear, and an eventual loss of steering control, that could result in injury or death.

Hazard: The handles on the base of the slow cookers can break, posing a risk of burns from hot contents spilling onto consumers. These Rival® Slow Cookers, sold from January 1999 through May 2002, were previously recalled for the same hazard. The recall has now been expanded to include all units manufactured before September 2004.

Hazard: A significant impact to the front wheel of the ATV, while the steering is fully turned to either side, can result in suspension damage, wear, and an eventual loss of steering control, that could result in injury or death.
